Notes

Enter the insert size after allowing clearance to your measured drawer. The generator does not subtract drawer clearance automatically.

Tile layout
Notes

Bed size drives automatic divisions and the print preview. Use custom dimensions to reserve an excluded strip or brim. Manual cuts stay fixed when the bed changes. Tiles keep their X/Y orientation; automatic tiling reserves room for the V faces.

Cuts can cross seats. Closed floors or solid seam strips in Open mode keep tiles connected; every exported tile is checked. Manual oversized tiles are flagged and downloads remain available for deliberate larger-bed layouts.

Seats and glue joints
Notes

Open removes the center of each cell floor while retaining the seats, outer frame and at least 2.4 mm of floor beside each glue face. Closed is the default.

Start at zero seat clearance; use a negative value for a tighter fit or a positive value for a looser fit. Grid pitch stays 42 mm.

Start with zero face-stock correction. The 0.15 mm total V cut is a printing-fit allowance, not a glue gap to hold open. If a printed trial needs adjustment, positive stock widens the snugly assembled cross-seam pitch; negative stock narrows it. The 42 mm pitch inside each tile stays fixed.

Notes

Positive center offsets move right/back. Snapping keeps a 2 mm rim outside the nominal grid. Edge padding measures to the nominal 42 mm cell boundary, not the curved pocket edge.

Instructions, reference and examples
Actual generated six by eight drawer grid divided into four flat tiles
Default 300 × 400 mm insert, shown with tiles separated for inspection. All flat undersides print on the bed.
Closed and open two by two drawer grids with tile seams between complete cells
Closed in teal; Open in orange. Tile seams fall between complete cells. The gaps shown are an exploded view, not internal dividers. Choose One piece when the insert fits your bed.

Gluing the tiles

Modeled fit reliefDry-press snug, check a bin, remove it, then glue pressed home.

The finished grid is divided by subtracting a 0.15 mm thick V-shaped strip at each seam, with a default 0.8 mm V depth. Half the relief comes off each mating face. Tile positions and the nominal 42 mm grid stay where they were in the finished insert.

This is a sliding-fit allowance for printed faces, not an open weld gap. Dry-press the tiles snugly together and check a bin across the seam. Remove the bin, apply a small amount of CA, and press the joint home while it cures. You do not need to hold a bin or spacer in the assembly.

If the printed trial's cross-seam fit needs correction, adjust X/Y face stock. Positive stock widens the snugly assembled seam pitch; negative stock narrows it. Start at zero and check a small pair before making the full insert.

Download the seam-trial recipe. Check that the flat undersides rest on the drawer floor and a bin seats across the snug dry joint. The assembly preview shows the original model registration and its removed fit-relief strip; it does not shift the CAD tiles to close that strip.

Printing your insert

Each tile is a watertight, connected solid with a 1.2 mm default floor thickness and 5 mm seat region. Closed mode keeps the entire floor; Open mode has 32.5 mm rounded cell windows, with seat ledges and solid glue-edge floor strips retained. The receiver profile follows the reviewed pegboard generator; added seat clearance is independent of drawer edge padding and joint tuning. Downloads place the flat underside at Z=0. Print flat side down. The shallow joints are designed to print without supports. Use your usual filament profile.

STEP exports contain faceted solids matching the generated tile. Generation and exports run locally in your browser using Manifold. Large arrays take longer; Cancel stops the worker. The generator checks connected solids in either bottom mode, closed mesh edges and reference bin-foot interference before enabling downloads. Dimensions and assembly notes · Gridfinity reference.

Set the finished outline, place a 42 mm grid inside it, and divide the insert into flat-printing tiles. Shallow V faces register adjacent tiles for CA gluing; there are no snaps, dovetails or captured connectors.
